How It All Began
Our Small Majority was founded by prison psychology researcher Christian M. Black and filmmaker Matthew Goriachkovsky, Our Small Majority started as a podcast meant to host interviews with some of the leading figures in social justice, community organization, and diversity. Inspired by the maladies of the world including the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of a racial reckoning after the murder of George Floyd - Christian and Matthew created OSM to do their part in helping make the world a more equitable place.
After the pandemic, as the world opened up, so too did Our Small Majority. Inspired by the voices they interviewed for the podcast, Christian and Matthew expanded - from just one single interview based podcast into now running multiple shows; each with their own style of addressing, correcting, and advancing the story of social justice in America.
But Christian and Matthew recognized the need for a more direct confrontation with the systemic, oppressive institutions holding back progress. Expanding again, OSM bloomed into a film production company - creating narrative, documentary, and commercial content for organizations and companies who wished to be on the right side of history.
Our Small Majority has now worked with clients like Salesforce, A24, Hulu, Food Network, Verizon and around the world from South Africa to Paraguay - telling stories about marginalized communities and sharing BIPOC perspectives on film and through audio.
Now, OSM continues to grow as a podcast and production company, ever changing and evolving. But OSM'S commitment to justice, representation, and diversity will never cease.
